Mr. Mudit Narain

In his current role, Mudit focuses on encouraging and enabling technology-enabled entrepreneurship in the infrastructure sectors of clean energy, water and wastewater, agriculture, and smart transport. Prior to joining CIIE, Mudit served for 7 years in the World Bank’s Energy Practice, working on, and later managing, several investment projects in clean energy generation, transmission, distribution, and energy efficiency. He has worked on or led investment projects in Nepal, India, Egypt, Bangladesh, Botswana, and South Africa. Between 2012 and 2014, he managed two clean technology-adoption projects in energy efficiency in India, financed by international climate mitigation funds, working with a broad variety of stakeholders including two Central ministries, civil society organizations in India and US, climate advocacy groups, and technology innovators. Mudit earned two masters’ degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), concentrating on the technologies for, and policies of, climate change mitigation in emerging economies. Apart from research papers in climate change mitigation and energy policy, Mudit has contributed to several landmark reports like the MIT Future of Coal study, the World Bank’s 2010 World Development Report on Development and Climate Change, and an upcoming book on public participation in electricity regulation in India. Apart from his professional responsibilities, Mudit is a keen supporter of publicly-accessible Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs), for broadening access to top-notch education for students of all means and origins globally. A keen quizzer and a voracious reader, he takes pride in having been in the group of editors for the Sherlock Holmes pages on Wikipedia, from 2007 to 2010!
